The Ministry of National Defense (MND) is sponsoring an international seminar to discuss the general international situation after the US-led war in Iraq as well as the possible impact of North Korea's nuclear arms development plan.

Major-General Wang Yang-cheng (¤ý¥¡«°), director of the Institute of Strategic Studies at National Defense University, yesterday said that five military strategy scholars and experts from the US, Japan and Australia have been invited to attend the seminar, which is to start tomorrow, to offer suggestions on maintaining regional security and stability.

In addition to reviewing the world situation after the war in Iraq and the North Korean issue, Wang said, the seminar will also evaluate the Taiwan Strait situation before and after Taiwan's presidential election next year.
