Prosecutors drop charges against Twu's accusers

STAFF WRITER

The Taipei Prosecutors' Office has dropped a libel charge against Cheng Ko-jung (鄭可榮) and PFP lawmaker Diane Lee (李慶安) filed by Twu Shiing-jer (涂醒哲), the current director-general of the Department of Health (DOH).

Last October, Lee and Cheng jointly accused Twu of of sexual harassment by licking Cheng's ear in a karaoke parlor.

After Twu was proved innocent and completely uninvolved with the alleged incident, he filed a libel lawsuit against Lee and Cheng.

Prosecutors yesterday recommended that DOH official Tu Hua-lin (屠豪麟) -- who it turned out was the man who licked Cheng's ear -- be given a nine-month jail term for his offence against Cheng.

According to the Criminal Code, such offences of a sexual nature are considered crimes for public prosecution.
