Three people won around NT$171 million each in the computerized lottery yesterday. One of the winning tickets was sold in Kaoshiung County, one in Taipei City and the third in Taoyuan, according to the TaipeiBank.
Since nobody won the NT$202 million jackpot on Tuesday, it was rolled over to yesterday. The jackpot had accumulated to about NT$500 million. The jackpot again attracted hoards of punters to lottery retailers around the country. A total of NT$1.76 billion worth of lottery tickets were sold in the latest issue.
The sales record remains NT$1.99 billion made during the Lunar New Year holiday.
A number of lottery retailers complained that they were short of printer paper, which forced them to suspend business over the past few days. Were it not for the paper shortage, lottery store owners said, sales would have been far higher.
TaipeiBank Executives recently promised that the paper shortage would be resolved this month, as additional supplies of printer paper have been shipped by air from Japan and the US.
