Jesper Fast, Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh scored for New York, who improved to 11-2-2 with their sixth straight win. The Rangers improved to 17-1-0 against Carolina since Feb. 22, 2011.
Fast and Nash scored 11 seconds apart in the first period to give the Rangers the lead, despite Carolina controlling play for much of the period.
Cam Ward stopped 20 shots for the Hurricanes, who fell to 6-9-0.

Jake Allen made 24 saves for his second straight shutout, while Martin Havlat scored against his former team as the Blues beat the Devils.
Allen, coming off a career-high 45 saves in a 4-0 win over Nashville on Saturday, had an easier time against New Jersey. It was his third shutout this season and the eighth of his career.
Magnus Paajarvi added a goal in the third period as the Blues won for the sixth time in seven games.
Cory Schneider stopped 26 shots for New Jersey, who were 8-2 in their previous 10 overall.

Brandon Sutter scored the tiebreaking goal with 5 minutes, 8 seconds remaining, while Jannik Hansen had a career-high four points with a goal and three assists, to lift the Canucks to a victory over the Blue Jackets.
Henrik Sedin had two goals and an assist, while Daniel Sedin added a goal and three assists to help the Canucks snap a three-game losing streak.
Jacob Markstrom, out since Oct. 9 with a hamstring injury, stopped 42 shots in his season debut.
