Antoine Roussel scored the go-ahead goal 54 seconds into the second period as the Dallas Stars broke the New York Rangers’ eight-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory on Monday night.
John Klingberg and Ales Hemsky also scored for the Stars, who have won six of seven.
The Rangers’ streak tied the NHL’s longest this season, but fell two games short of matching the team record set during the 1939-40 season and equaled in 1972-73.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 28 shots and earned his 15th victory of the season. New York’s Henrik Lundqvist lost for the first time since Dec. 1.

Martin Brodeur stopped 16 shots and recorded his NHL-record 125th shutout and 691st victory as St Louis beat the Avalanche.
Dmitrij Jaskin, Chris Butler and Vladimir Tarasenko scored, and Paul Stastny had two assists for the Blues (22-11-3), who snapped a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) and avenged a 5-0 loss in Colorado on Dec. 23.
The Avalanche (13-14-8) have dropped two straight after going 4-0-2 in their previous six games.
ISLANDERS 4, CAPITALS 3, OT
Johnny Boychuk’s power-play goal 2 minutes, 53 seconds into in overtime lifted the Islanders over the Capitals after New York blew another three-goal lead.
For the second straight game, and fourth in recent weeks, the Islanders let a three-goal lead get away. New York lost against Buffalo 4-3 on Saturday.
This time, the Capitals stormed back in the third period on goals by Eric Fehr, Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin. Braden Holtby stopped 35 shots.
Boychuk’s third goal gave the Islanders (24-11-1) their 14th home win, topping their total from last season.
Anders Lee, Lubomir Visnovsky and Calvin de Haan also scored for the Islanders. Jaroslav Halak made 23 saves in his return from injury.
CANADIENS 3, HURRICANES 1
Jiri Sekac and Lars Eller scored second-period goals as the Canadiens beat the Hurricanes for their third straight win.
Eric Staal, playing in his 800th NHL game, scored a power-play goal for Carolina (10-22-4) off an assist from his brother Jordan, who played in his first game since breaking his right leg during a pre-season contest on Sept. 23.
Jiri Tlusty, who returned after he missing seven games due to an upper-body injury, also had an assist for Carolina. Cam Ward stopped 16 shots.
Max Pacioretty added an empty-net goal in the final minute, and Carey Price had 28 saves for Montreal (23-11-2).
WILD 3, JETS 2
Marco Scandella scored the tiebreaking goal with 12 seconds left in the second period as the Wild rallied from two down to beat the Jets.
Scandella’s ninth of the season was Minnesota’s third goal in the second period and helped the Wild snap a five-game winless skid.
Ryan Carter and Justin Fontaine had the other goals for Minnesota (17-13-4). Sutter and Kyle Brodziak each had assists on the goals.
Minnesota goaltender Darcy Kuemper returned after missing one game with food poisoning and made 28 saves.
Michael Frolik and Mathieu Perreault both scored on a power play for the Jets.
DEVILS 3, PENGUINS 1
Travis Zajac had a goal and an assist, while Cory Schneider made 26 saves as the struggling Devils beat the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique also scored for the Devils, who won for only the second time in 10 games (2-5-3).
It was also New Jersey’s first win in two games since general manager Lou Lamoriello fired coach Pete DeBoer on Friday and joined new coaches Scott Stevens and Adam Oates behind the bench as part of a three-man committee.
Sidney Crosby scored for the Penguins, who have lost four straight. Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves.

Bobby Ryan scored three goals to carry the Ottawa Senators to a victory over the Sabres.
Colin Greening was awarded Ottawa’s final goal with 2 seconds left after he was hauled down on a breakaway by defenseman Nikita Zadorov with the Sabres net empty for an extra attacker.
Clarke MacArthur also scored.
Ottawa snapped a three-game losing skid behind a 19-save effort by Craig Anderson.
Jhonas Enroth made 31 saves for the Sabres, who got goals from Mark Pysyk and Zemgus Girgensons.
