The Taiwan women’s beach handball team were due to arrive in Recife, Brazil, in preparation for their first World Championship match against Brazil at 6:30pm yesterday.
The 6th Beach Handball World Championship is to begin today and run through to Sunday, with Taiwan set to face Italy, Uruguay, Australia, Norway, Spain, Argentina, Thailand, Ukraine, Denmark and Hungary, as well as the host nation.
In total, there are 12 nations represented in men’s and women’s competitions.

Twelve people are involved with the Taiwan team, head coach Chang Jung-hsien, manager and physiotherapist Chang Yung-ching, as well as players Chu Chiu-en, Chia Ling-hui, Chen Ying-ju, Chen Yi-ling, Yang Ya-ting, Tsai Tzu-hsuan, Hsu Li-ping, Huang Wei-jung, Chen Yi-ling and Lin Wen-ya.
The team qualified for the tournament by placing second at the Asian Beach Handball Championship, which was held in Hong Kong last year.
