Game eight of the Taipei Hockey League finished with BLH picking up a 10-1 win over the Thors in the Promo Division, with the more social-level players thankful to be able to get time on the ice after a couple of years with no organized league play.
BLH dominated the game, with most of the action centered around the Thor goal.
The black-shirted side made the occasional foray into the opposition’s half with breakaways, but their passes too often went to BLH players, and goaltender Mike Jensen was not troubled one-on-one.

Jensen also made a pair of spectacular stops, plucking the puck out of the air, but admitted to being unsighted for the only blemish on BLH’s scoresheet: a goal by Chen Yu-zhi.
“The shot that went in, I didn’t even see it,” Jensen said. “I thought it was over the top, but apparently it hit the crossbar and went in.”
“It was a good shot, I guess,” he said.
The goal of the game came in the second period when Andy Wang picked up a centered pass from Dave Hyland, beat a defenseman between his skates and had his initial shot blocked by goaltender Chris de la Rocha, but then followed through by slapping the rebound into the back of the net.
Hyland made three other assists — including one to put Wayne McNeil in position to lift his goal home — and scored twice, picking up one of the “three star” awards given to each game’s top players.
The Open Division is to play on Thursday at the Iceland rink at the Taipei Arena with the Clouded Leopards facing the Buffalos at 9:30pm, while on Friday night, the Leopard Cats play the Black Bears at 11pm.
