Tampa Bay’s Ryan Malone scored in overtime, completing the Lightning’s comeback from a two-goal deficit to beat the NHL Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers 4-3 on Friday.
Malone beat the goalie from the slot as his game-winner stopped a personal 10-game goal drought. Brandon Dubinsky had drawn the Rangers even at 3-3 with 3 minutes, 27 seconds left in regulation.
Steven Stamkos scored his league-leading 45th goal of the season while Tom Pyatt and Teddy Purcell also scored for the Lightning, who moved within four points of eighth-place Winnipeg in the East.
Artem Anisimov and Marian Gaborik had other Rangers’ goals. It was only the fourth time in 33 games that New York had lost after scoring the opening goal.

In Ottawa, Marian Hossa scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and Chicago held on to defeat Ottawa.
Bryan Bickell also scored for the Blackhawks in a game that ended in exciting style with both goalies forced to make some key late saves.

In Detroit, Michigan, Jimmy Howard made 19 saves for his 11th career shutout as Detroit crushed Minnesota.
Valtteri Filppula had two goals and an assist, while Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, with Ian White, Brendan Smith and Darren Helm also finding the net.
Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom missed his second game with a deep bone bruise to his right ankle. He is expected to miss at least two more games.
