Taiwanese team celebrates in France

A 12-player Taiwanese team that won one silver medal at the first French Open table tennis tournament for the disabled in Nantes, France, on Saturday attended a celebration party on Tuesday held by the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in France.

At the party at Taiwan’s representative office in Paris, Lai Chun-jung, who has competed overseas on several occasions, said the welcome in France was particularly warm.

Meanwhile, Ko Kun-nan, who together with Chen Shen-chi won the team’s only medal, a silver medal in the Class 4 men’s team final, thanked the office for its help in arranging the train to Nantes on time despite their later-than-scheduled arrival in Paris.

Some players said they wanted to thank Taiwanese compatriots in Nantes and members of the chamber for their assistance during the tournament.

The First French Open para-table tennis tournament attracted 200 participants from about 20 countries.
