Lindsey Vonn of the US won a women’s World Cup super-G race yesterday for her third victory in as many days.
Vonn went down the Krummholz course in 1 minute, 26.69 seconds to beat Anja Paerson of Sweden by 0.53 seconds for her 28th World Cup victory and seventh in the discipline.
“I knew I needed to race more aggressively than in my previous super-Gs this season. I gave my best and had a perfect run,” Vonn said. “This gives me a lot of self-confidence, things couldn’t have been better.”

Nadia Fanchini of Italy and Martina Schild of Switzerland shared third place, 0.85 seconds behind the American.
Vonn won both downhill races on Friday and Saturday.
She came close to completing a hat-trick of victories in three days last month, winning back-to-back downhills but finishing second in a super-G race the next day in Lake Louise, Alberta.
“I am not unbeatable in speed events,” Vonn said. “Everyone can race the same line as I do. I know some girls are just as fast as me in training, but what counts is that you deliver it in the race.”
Vonn extended her lead in the overall standings over main rival Maria Riesch of Germany, who was 2.65 seconds behind after skiing off-course in the final section of the course.
Riesch looked set for a podium finish, but misjudged a sharp turn and almost came to a standstill.
“I am not in a crisis,” said Riesch, who was seventh in Saturday’s downhill.
“Lindsey was just too good this weekend and I have to focus on the positive aspects, as I was skiing really fast before that mistake,” she said.
Paerson was happy with her second podium finish after taking second in Friday’s downhill, the first time she had come in the top three since February.
“I am very proud with second place. It was a difficult turn, but I tried to be aggressive,” Paerson said.
“Lindsey is not unbeatable, there are more races this season than just in Haus. Every race is a new one,” she said.
The women’s World Cup circuit continues with a night slalom tomorrow in Flachau, Austria.

Julien Lizeroux won a World Cup slalom race on the Kuonisbaergli course in Switzerland yesterday, racing through from 12th place after the first leg.

Austria’s Marcel Hirscher was second, 0.34 seconds back, while Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic trailed Lizeroux by 0.80 seconds in third.
First-run leader Mattias Hargin of Sweden placed fifth.
Lizeroux, who was third last Wednesday in Zagreb, Croatia, trails Austria’s Reinfried Herbst by only four points in the World Cup slalom standings.
Herbst was second after the first run, but skied out while leading at the final split time.
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The
Taiwanese judoka Yang Yung-wei on Saturday won silver in the men’s under-60kg category at the Asian Judo Championships in Hong Kong. Nicknamed the “judo heartthrob” in Taiwan, the Olympic silver-medalist missed out on his first Asian Championships gold when he lost to Japanese judoka Taiki Nakamura in the finals. Yang defeated three opponents on Saturday to reach the final after receiving a bye through the round of 32. He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). RALLY: It was only the second time the Taiwanese has partnered with Kudermetova, and the match seemed tight until they won seven points in a row to take the last set 10-2 Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova on Sunday won the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix women’s doubles final in Stuttgart, Germany. Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital. After missing the final rounds in the first two of four qualifier
