Osasuna completed the notable task of beating Barcelona at the Camp Nou, but the result failed to dampen the spirits of the Catalan fans who are in full party mood and watched the players lift the league trophy after the match.
A Walter Pandiani goal gave Osasuna a 1-0 win against a Barca side made up largely of reserves, with Pep Guardiola resting players ahead of the Champions League final on Wednesday. It was a disappointing night for Barca youngster Marc Muniesa who was dismissed for a crude challenge and Guardiola himself was sent off minutes later for protesting. Despite the win though, it was not enough to see Osasuna move out of the bottom three.
A 90th minute strike from Diego Perotti gave Sevilla a 1-0 win over Deportivo la Coruna which assures the Andalucian side of Champions League soccer next season. Sevilla had plenty of possession, but struggled to break down a resolute Depor defense until the final minute when Perotti appeared in the box to convert an Adriano cross from the right.

A hat-trick from Diego Forlan against Athletic Bilbao has consolidated Atletico Madrid’s position in the top four, while the Uruguayan has overtaken Samuel Eto’o as the top scorer in the Primera Division with 31 goals.
Villarreal have leapfrogged Valencia with a resounding 3-1 win over their local rivals and remain with an outside chance of a place in the Champions League, while Valencia can now hope for nothing more than Europa League soccer next season.
At the other end of the table, both Recreativo Huelva and Numancia were relegated.
Bottom side Recreativo Huelva’s hopes of a miracle faded in a 1-0 defeat against Racing Santander, with Nicola Zigic scoring, while a Roberto Soldado strike for Getafe gave them a 1-0 win over Numancia.
Sporting Gijon remain outside the relegation zone after their 2-1 win over Valladolid. Real Betis drew 1-1 with Malaga, leaving them one point off the drop zone.

One of Malaysia’s top soccer clubs has pulled out of today’s season-opening Charity Shield after a spate of assaults, including an acid attack, on players in the country. It leaves the kickoff of Malaysia’s season this weekend under a cloud following the unprecedented acts of violence against players, which have left the country shocked and angry. Authorities said they have imposed tighter security, but Selangor said that they would not play in the showpiece curtain-raiser against Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) citing “a series of criminal incidents and recent threats.” Selangor and Malaysia winger Faisal Halim is in intensive care
