Bahrain prove too good for Hong Kong in Cup

Hong Kong lost 1-3 at home to Bahrain in their 2011 Asian Cup qualifying match yesterday evening.

Bahrain opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Ismaeel Abdullatef before Abdulla Baba scored another for the visitors in the 37th.

Bahrain wrapped up the win when Salman Isa scored after 87 muinutes.

Cheng Siu Wai scored a consolation goal for the home side in the final minute.

On Tuesday Japan got off to a flying start in their campaign to regain the title with a 2-1 victory over Yemen.

Striker Tatsuya Tanaka headed home the decider in the 65th minute when he dived for Shinji Okazaki’s last pass on a right corner from Kengo Nakamura.

The Japanese took an early lead in the seventh minute with Okazaki striking home on a Tanaka cross.

But Yemen evened the score only two minutes into the second half when defender Zaher Farid Al-Fadhli hit a header on a free kick by Ala Al-Sasi.
