Taiwanese duo set the early pace at Midea China Classic

Taiwan’s Lu Wei-chih opened his campaign at this week’s Midea China Classic at a blistering pace by taking the first round lead with a seven-under-par 64 yesterday.

The 29-year-old fired eight birdies against a lone bogey to take a one-stroke lead over compatriot Hsu Mong-nan while Scotland’s Simon Dunn together with South Korea’s Noh Seung-yul and Park Jun-won are a further shot back in a tie for third place.

Lu got off the blocks on the front nine by recording seven birdies to make the turn in 29. A bogey at the start of his back-nine only halted his charge momentarily as he went on to record another birdie on the 12th before completing his homeward run in 64.
