Germany let a two-goal lead slip and Belarus came back on a pair of goals from Vitaly Bulyga to draw 2-2 with one of the European Championships favorites in a friendly on Tuesday.
The Germans led 2-0 on two early goals, but wasted too many opportunities in the second half and displayed some major defensive lapses in the first of their two warm-up games before next month’s tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
Miroslav Klose scored in the 10th minute after collecting a through pass from Lukas Podolski and rounding goalkeeper Vasily Khomutovsky to slot the ball home with ease. Klose was playing on a familiar pitch, since he started his Bundesliga career at Kaiserslautern, but television replays suggested he was offside.

Ten minutes later, Germany doubled their lead on an own-goal by Vladimir Korytko. David Odonkor, getting a surprise start on the right wing, charged down the flank and sent over a sharp cross that Korytko inadvertently redirected into his own net.
Bulyga, a speedy forward who troubled the defense the entire game, got Belarus back into the game when he beat an offside trap in the 60th and charged one-on-one on goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. Lehmann got his foot on the ball but could only slow its path into the net.
Bulyga got another chance in the 88th when the defense lost the ball, and he shot past Lehmann to earn the draw. But Germany’s Jermaine Jones appeared to be fouled on the play that gave Belarus possession.
Germany coach Joachim Loew used six substitutes in the second half and they stepped up the pace to create many good chances that were wasted.
Germany, playing in an unusual, mostly red kit, were missing half a dozen players for various reasons. They controlled the early part of the game but Belarus, coached by German Bernd Stange, threatened the shaky opposition defense several times.
Lehmann made a couple of errors, but pulled off a good save from Viacheslau Hleb late in the half. Hleb, free in the German area, got off a good shot but Lehmann tipped the ball over.
Jones, who came on for captain Michael Ballack at the start of the second half, narrowly missed the target from the edge of the penalty area. Ballack only joined the team on Monday after his Chelsea team lost the Champions League final to Manchester United last week.
The 19-year-old Marko Marin, who played second-division soccer this past season, got his first cap when he came on for Bastian Schweinsteiger. He toyed with several Belarus defenders before being brought down but Piotr Trochowski drove the resulting free kick wide.
Germany returned to their training base in Mallorca immediately after the game. On Wednesday, Loew will cut three players from his 26-man roster.
The team flies back to Germany to face Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday in its final warm-up before Euro 2008.

Bafetimbi Gomis scored twice on his international debut to help France beat Ecuador 2-0 in a friendly match on Tuesday.
The St Etienne striker came on as a second-half substitute and his two goals gave him a claim for a place in France’s European Championship squad to be announced by coach Raymond Domenech yesterday.
The 22-year-old Gomis scored his first in the 58th, collecting the ball with his back to goal, turning his marker and hitting a powerful shot into the top left corner from just inside the penalty area.
The second he converted from Nicolas Anelka’s cross from the left with a powerful volley in the 85th.
Domenech used the match to evaluate several fringe players before selecting his final squad for the June 7 to June 29 championship in Austria and Switzerland.
Gomis’ strikes may have complicated Domenech’s decision.
Domenech chose an attack-minded team, with Hatem Ben Arfa and Samir Nasri playing behind the strikers.
Still, France had to wait until the 28th minute before Nasri’s 30m shot tested goalkeeper Marcelo Elizaga.
A minute later, Djibril Cisse headed a Nicolas Anelka cross just over.
Ecuador exploited a French midfield lapse in the 38th when Luis Antonio Valencia found space to release Carlos Tenorio. He rounded goalkeeper Sebastien Frey but his shot was blocked on the line by defender Lilian Thuram, who fell as he thwarted a second shot after the ball rebounded back to Tenorio.
Les Bleus, wearing red jerseys for only the second time ever, threatened a minute later when the unmarked Cisse headed Ben Arfa’s pinpoint cross straight at Elizaga.
Fans in Grenoble’s Stade des Alpes jeered the French team as they left the pitch at half-time.
Gomis almost scored within seven minutes of entering to start the second half, but dragged his shot wide off Mathieu Flamini’s pass.
Ben Arfa then almost scored in the 77th, eluding two players and hitting a powerful shot from the edge of the area that forced a low stop from Elizaga.
France play Paraguay in Toulouse on Saturday and face Colombia at the Stade de France on June 3.
In other Euro 2008 warm-up games it was:
• Austria 1, Nigeria 1
• Czech Republic 2, Lithuania 0
• Poland 1, Albania 0
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The
Taiwanese judoka Yang Yung-wei on Saturday won silver in the men’s under-60kg category at the Asian Judo Championships in Hong Kong. Nicknamed the “judo heartthrob” in Taiwan, the Olympic silver-medalist missed out on his first Asian Championships gold when he lost to Japanese judoka Taiki Nakamura in the finals. Yang defeated three opponents on Saturday to reach the final after receiving a bye through the round of 32. He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital. After missing the final rounds in the first two of four qualifier
