Derek Jeter had four hits and the New York Yankees got consecutive homers from Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano during a six-run outburst, beating the slumping Seattle Mariners 8-2 on Sunday to finish a lopsided three-game sweep.
Just called up from the minors, Darrell Rasner pitched six comfortable innings and the sweet-swinging Yankees roughed up an ineffective Carlos Silva (3-1). New York outscored the Mariners 19-4 in the series, immediately after getting swept three games at home by the Detroit Tigers.

In Boston, Kevin Youkilis had four RBIs and Jon Lester pitched six innings to lift Boston over Tampa Bay, spoiling the return of Rays ace Scott Kazmir.
After being swept for the first time in franchise history by Tampa Bay last weekend, the Red Sox returned the favor and outscored the Rays in the series 26-10.
TWINS 7, TIGERS 6
In Minneapolis, Joe Mauer capped a Minnesota rally from a six-run, first-inning deficit, slapping a two-run single up the middle in the seventh to lift the Twins past the Tigers.
A two-out error in the inning by third baseman Carlos Guillen, who let a routine groundball hit by Nick Punto roll off his glove and through his legs, set up a four-run surge and ruined a strong start by Kenny Rogers.
Zach Miner (1-2) relieved and gave up an RBI single to Carlos Gomez and an RBI double to Brendan Harris. Then Bobby Seay came in and served up Mauer’s go-ahead hit.
ANGELS 6, ORIOLES 5
In Anaheim, California, Gary Matthews Jr and Torii Hunter homered in the first inning and Los Angeles beat Baltimore despite a poor outing by still-unbeaten Joe Saunders.
Saunders (6-0) threw 85 pitches over five innings in the shortest of his seven starts. The left-hander allowed four runs and a career-high 12 hits, struck out one and walked none.
Saunders became the third pitcher in Angels history to start a season 6-0 or better, joining teammate Jered Weaver (9-0 in 2006) and Aaron Sele (7-0 in 2004).
BLUE JAYS 4, WHITE SOX 3
In Toronto Roy Halladay won for the first time in four starts, Matt Stairs scored twice and drove in two runs and Toronto handed Chicago its season-high fifth straight loss.
Halladay (3-4) had thrown complete games in his previous four starts, but lost the last three. He lasted 7 1-3 innings in this one, giving up three runs — one earned — and three hits. Halladay walked none and struck out seven.
Jose Contreras pitched a complete game but took the loss for Chicago, giving up four runs and six hits. He walked none and struck out five.
ROYALS 2, INDIANS 0
In Cleveland, Gil Meche pitched seven shutout innings, a throwing error by third baseman Casey Blake broke a scoreless tie and Kansas City beat Cleveland.
Miguel Olivo added a solo homer in the ninth for the Royals, who outscored the Indians 6-2 in sweeping the two-game series. Friday night’s game was rained out.
ATHLETICS 3, RANGERS 1
In Oakland, California, Jack Cust’s two-run homer in the seventh inning helped Oakland end the Rangers’ four-game winning streak.
Santiago Casilla (1-0) threw a scoreless seventh for the win, and has yet to allow a run in his 16 1-3 innings.
Rangers’ starter Scott Feldman (0-1) took a three-hit shutout into the seventh inning before allowing a sun-aided double to Frank Thomas and Cust’s third homer in four games.

In Denver, Aaron Cook gave the Rockies the strong outing they needed, Matt Holliday had two hits and two RBIs and the Rockies beat the Dodgers 7-2 to end a four-game losing streak.
It was the fifth time Cook (5-1) stopped a Rockies’ losing streak, and for the third straight start he ended a four-game losing streak. The Rockies are 6-1 when Cook starts and 6-18 in other games.
Andre Ethier homered for the Dodgers, who had their eight-game winning streak snapped. Derek Lowe (2-2) took the loss.
ASTROS 8, BREWERS 6
Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th to lead the Houston Astros to a win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
Pence’s home run to left field scored Lance Berkman and completed Houston’s comeback for its third straight win. The Astros trailed by as many as four.
Mitch Stetter (1-1) gave up Pence’s homer, his fourth of the season.
Berkman had four RBIs and tied his career high with four hits, including a homer and a pair of doubles.
MARLINS 10, PADRES 3
In Miami, Greg Maddux failed in his fourth bid to reach 350 victories, when he was outpitched by Andrew Miller in a loss to Florida.
Maddux (2-3) twice failed to hold a lead, and he allowed 11 hits and five runs, four earned, in five and two thirds innings.
Miller (2-2) earned his seventh career win with his best performance since joining the Marlins in the offseason trade that sent Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera to Detroit.
The left-hander allowed four hits and two runs in six innings.
