Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin had the day's best round on Saturday to give the Philippines a share of the lead with South Korea at the Women's World Cup of Golf.
Taiwan's team of Wei Yun-jye and Amy Hung made a thrilling charge up the leaderboard, finishing the penultimate round in third place.
Rosales and Delasin shot a 4-under 68 and the two teams were tied at 11-under 133 after the foursomes at the par-72 Gary Player Country Club.
The South Korean pair of Shin Ji-yai and Ji-Eun-hee were comfortably clear of the field at 14-under until a triple-bogey seven at the 17th.
Three putts from the edge spoiled what had, until then, been a round with just a single bogey.
Only Taiwan, with a 3-under 69, and Wales (71) beat par.
It took the Philippine pair eight holes for their first birdie, and they then dropped a shot on the 13th.
Rosales and Delasin ended with three straight birdies.
Taiwan, which only has 50 woman professionals, had four birdies between Amy Hung and Wei Yun-jye.
"We played steady today, and just tried to hit the middle of the fairways," Hung said.
It was a tough day for the US' Juli Inkster and Pat Hurst, slumping to a 4-over 76 and a share of 10th place at 3-under 141 with Brazil and Scotland.
"We didn't play very well," Inkster said. "I didn't drive the ball very well. We just never really got it into a rhythm and this is the type of format where you need to get into a rhythm."
