Rick DiPietro had 37 saves and Bill Guerin scored two goals to lead the New York Islanders over the New Jersey Devils 3-1 on Wednesday for their fifth win in as many NHL games this season against them.
Travis Zajac scored for New Jersey, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
DiPietro was spectacular in the third period, stopping 15 of 16 shots, including one in close by Devils center Dainius Zubrus in the final 90 seconds.
Flyers 5, Panthers 3
At Philadelphia, Daniel Briere scored twice and Kimmo Timonen had a goal and two assists as Philadelphia denied Florida coach Jacques Martin his 500th win.
Simon Gagne and Scott Hartnell also scored for the Flyers, who took a 4-1 lead in the first period. Philadelphia backup Antero Niittymaki, who hasn't lost in regulation in his last six starts, made 28 saves.
Martin, looking to become the 10th coach in NHL history to win 500 games, won No. 499 on Jan. 10 at Atlanta, but Florida has lost three straight since. Jay Bouwmeester, Rostislav Olesz, and Stephen Weiss had goals for the Panthers.
Rangers 2, Sabres 1
At New York, Petr Prucha and Brandon Dubinsky each had a goal and an assist as New York stretched Buffalo's losing streak to 10 games since Dec. 22.
Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves for his 20th win of the season, doing it against the Sabres, who knocked the Rangers out in the second round of last season's playoffs.
Jason Pominville scored and Ryan Miller was sharp for the Sabres in stopping 33 shots.
Blackhawks 6, Blues 1
At Chicago, rookie Patrick Kane had two goals and an assist, and Patrick Lalime made 32 saves in Chicago's win.
Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and two assists, and Jack Skille, Rene Bourque and Yanic Perreault also scored for the Blackhawks.
Lee Stempniak scored for St. Louis. Starting goalie Manny Legace left after the first period with an injured right arm.
Flames 3, Wild 2, SO
At St. Paul, Minnesota, Jarome Iginla shrugged off a slow night to score the winning goal in the shootout, lifting Calgary past Minnesota.
It should come as no surprise to Minnesota, which has been tormented by Iginla over the years. He entered with 41 points in 38 career games against Minnesota, and his 24 goals against the Wild are 10 more than the next closest opponent.
