    Taiwan beat Japan 6-1 to lead Group A

    Taiwan overpowered Japan 6-1 yesterday in a Group A clash at the 37th Baseball World Cup.

    The victory gave the Taiwan team a 2-0 record after two games.

    A full match report will follow tomorrow.

    In other Group A action yesterday Spain beat South Africa 7-4, Italy defeated the US 6-2 and Panama pipped Mexico 3-2.

    In Group B South Korea defeated Thailand 18-2, Australia beat Venezuela 7-4, Cuba defeated Canada 6-3 and the Netherlands beat Germany 15-5.
