Osmani Urrutia's home run in the bottom half of the 10th inning yesterday helped lift Cuba to a 3-2 victory over Australia in a Group B clash in the 37th Baseball World Cup in Taiwan.
The Cubans had tied the game at two with two out in the bottom of the ninth on a round tripper by Frederich Cepeda.
In other action yesterday, Jayson Nix batted in two runs in the 5th inning to lead the US to a 3-0 triumph over Mexico in a Group A game.
Also in Group A, Japan bested South Africa 11-1, and Panama beat Spain 5-0.
In Group B competition, the Netherlands demolished Thailand 16-0.
In last night's games, South Korea whitewashed Canada 5-0, while Venezuela blanked Germany 8-0.
