Sharks 4, Flames 1
At Calgary, Alberta, Milan Michalek scored twice, including a short-handed goal, to lift San Jose over Calgary.
Michalek pushed San Jose's lead to 2-0 at 7:33 of the second period when he scored while the Sharks were killing a penalty.
Calgary used four forwards on the power play, but the move backfired when Alex Tanguay mishandled the puck at the Sharks blue line, allowing Michalek to break away down the wing.
As Dion Phaneuf came across in pursuit, Michalek fired a shot that goalkeeper Miikka Kiprusoff stopped, but he kicked out the rebound right onto Michalek's stick.
Michalek fired the puck into the open side beyond Kiprusoff's outstretched pad.
Michalek added his second of the night and sixth of the season in the third period off a setup by Jeremy Roenick from behind the net.
Ryane Clowe and Steve Bernier also scored for San Jose (5-3-1), which began a four-game road trip that continues on Friday in Detroit.

At Montreal, Chris Higgins and Alex Kovalev scored Montreal's first two goals off faceoffs and Cristobal Huet made 31 saves to beat Boston.
Steve Begin, Patrice Brisebois, Mikhail Grabovski and Andrei Markov also scored for Montreal, which snapped Boston's four-game winning streak.
Bryan Smolinski, who played his 1,000th NHL regular-season game, set up Grabovski's first career goal with a pass on a 2-on-1 that put the Canadiens up 5-1 midway through the third.
Dennis Wideman scored his first of the season earlier in the period for the Bruins (5-3).
Kovalev, who played his 999th NHL regular-season game, also had an assist. Saku Koivu and Tomas Plekanec each had two assists.
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The

Yang defeated three opponents on Saturday to reach the final after receiving a bye through the round of 32. He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital.
