Lucian Bute, who posted 15 consecutive knockouts to open his pro career, will attempt to dethrone Alejandro Berrio when they meet in a International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight fight today.
The 27-year-old southpaw Bute has used his quick combinations and smooth footwork to compile a 20-0 record with 16 knockouts.
He hopes to keeps his unbeaten record intact when he meets the Colombian champion (26-5, 25 KOs) in a 12-round fight at the Bell Center arena.
Bute, a Romanian fighting out of Quebec, has gone the distance in his last five fights after he steamrolled through his first 15 opponents.
His last knockout was against James Obede Toney in the eighth round of their fight in September last year.
Bute needed 12 rounds to stop Sakio Bika in an IBF title elimination fight in June and another 12 to stop Sergey Tatevosyan in January.
Berrio won the title in March of this year when he traveled to Germany and knocked out Robert Stieglitz, a boxer who had beaten Berrio in 2005.
