Security was tightened for France's Euro 2008 qualifying match against Scotland in Paris yesterday when up to 10,000 Scottish fans were expected to arrive.
French police expect thousands of Scottish fans to march from the Eiffel Tower to the Parc des Princes before the gates open.
The Scottish Football Federation Web site said that 10,000 fans were expected to make the trip to Paris with 3,000 official tickets and the rest bought on the Internet.
French police said there will be additional security officers on the metro, surrounding area and inside the Parc des Princes stadium in the southwest of the capital.
Fans were to be filtered at the entry with suspect spectators undergoing special security searches and passing through metal detectors, police said.
Police were also stationed throughout the ground, which was under video surveillance, to react to any incident during the match.
They warned that any fans found inside the ground with prohibited items would be arrested.
