Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson hopes Arsenal have not rumbled his new recruits as the English Premier League leaders prepare to take on the Gunners today.
City, the only team to have won three out of three so far this season, are looking to keep the run going when they do battle in north London.
Chelsea, breathing down their necks, host fifth-placed Portsmouth, while Liverpool travel to Sunderland, who will have been given a roasting by boss Roy Keane following last week's 3-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.
Champions Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow, with both clubs desperate for a victory.
United are yet to win this season, while Spurs boss Martin Jol could badly do with three points to ward off speculation he is about to be sacked.
"I think for the first two games a lot of people didn't know about some of our players: Martin Petrov maybe, Elano and Geovanni," Eriksson said. "But we will not have that advantage anymore because the managers show videos about the opposition from the previous weeks. I know that [Arsenal manager] Arsene Wenger will do it so I don't think we will live on surprising people anymore."
Second-placed Chelsea host fifth-placed Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho hoping the visitors feel the sharp end of his attack -- and fail to capitalize on their somewhat shaky defending of late.
Chelsea will have to get the better of Pompey goalkeeper David James, who is in form and reinvigorated by his England recall after two years out in the cold.
"I'll be trying to do what I can to jog the [England] manager's mind and hopefully get a shout," James said.
Liverpool travel to Sunderland who are smarting after last weekend's defeat to Wigan.
"We're at home and we can have a go at them," warned Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson. "Liverpool are a good side, they have a chance of winning the title and it will be tough for us."
The Reds will be without captain Steven Gerrard, who is being rested due to a fractured toe.
Their city rivals, fourth-placed Everton, host Blackburn Rovers at Goodison Park.
The UEFA Cup side are determined to make their stadium a fortress, starting with the Rovers' visit, Toffees midfielder Lee Carsley said.
"We have got to build our season on our home form and it is a match that we are looking to do well in," he said. "Blackburn have got a lot of skilful players who are hard working. They are tough to play against and a tough team to beat."
Wigan Athletic, third in the table, travel to West Ham United, who are hoping to get a second win out of their hefty spending on new players.
Latics boss Chris Hutchings is pinning his hopes of an away victory on former England forward Emile Heskey's burgeoning relationship with attacking midfielder Antoine Sibierski.
"I'm delighted with the way we've passed the ball, but with all due respect, it helps when you've got better quality players in," Hutchings said.
Newly-promoted sides Derby County and Birmingham City are both winless and in the bottom three but one side has the chance to escape the relegation zone when they clash at Pride Park.
The hosts hope to have Jamaica center-half Claude Davis fit in time, while Birmingham are sweating on Finland striker Mikael Forssell's fitness.
The two sides have not met in the top flight since 1978.
Rock-bottom Bolton Wanderers host Reading, who have one of the most resilient defenses in the division.
Reading boss Steve Coppell said striker Leroy Lita would be fit to play for the first time this season, while he was hoping all his stars on international duty midweek make it back in one piece.
"I don't like not knowing about so many players," he said. "It's the price you pay, though. We won't complain."
Fulham travel to Aston Villa while Middlesbrough host Newcastle United tomorrow in a northeast derby.
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The
Taiwanese judoka Yang Yung-wei on Saturday won silver in the men’s under-60kg category at the Asian Judo Championships in Hong Kong. Nicknamed the “judo heartthrob” in Taiwan, the Olympic silver-medalist missed out on his first Asian Championships gold when he lost to Japanese judoka Taiki Nakamura in the finals. Yang defeated three opponents on Saturday to reach the final after receiving a bye through the round of 32. He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). He
RALLY: It was only the second time the Taiwanese has partnered with Kudermetova, and the match seemed tight until they won seven points in a row to take the last set 10-2 Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova on Sunday won the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix women’s doubles final in Stuttgart, Germany. The pair defeated Norway’s Ulrikke Eikeri and Estonia’s Ingrid Neel 4-6, 6-3, 10-2 in a tightly contested match at the WTA 500 tournament. Chan and Kudermetova fell 4-6 in the first set after having their serve broken three times, although they played increasingly well. They fought back in the second set and managed to break their opponents’ serve in the eighth game to triumph 6-3. In the tiebreaker, Chan and Kudermetova took a 3-0 lead before their opponents clawed back two points, but
Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital. After missing the final rounds in the first two of four qualifier
