Australia moved to within one victory of winning the women's division of the Jones Cup yesterday by demolishing South Korea 95-33.

The win extended Australia's unbeaten run to five games and the 62-point difference marked their largest margin of victory in the tournament.

The Australians beat Japan by 61 points in the first match which finished 120-59, while their smallest margin of victory was 32 points in a 72-40 win over the US.

Rohanee Cox led the assault with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Kim Eun-kyoung was one of only two South Korean players to reach double digits with 11 points.

In the second game of the day, Taiwan's A team pulled its record even by beating up on the helpless Japanese squad 96-77. Though Japan's record dropped to 0-5, it did succeed in being beaten by less than 20 points for the first time in the tournament.

Japan trailed by just seven points at the half, 39-46, but Taiwan effectively put the game out of reach in the third by outscoring their opponents 30-18.

Taiwan's Liu Yi-chun shot 76 percent from the field to lead the team with 21 points.

Taiwan B's 82-69 win over New Zealand was the most competitive affair of the day, with the home side holding a slim 57-51 lead going into the final quarter.

Despite a fired-up fourth-quarter performance by Angela Marino, who ended with 22 points, Taiwan gradually extended their lead thanks to three key three-point buckets by Li Hui-mei, who scored 11 points in the final quarter despite having just two in the first three. With the win, Taiwan moves into sole possession of second place with a 3-1 record.

The penultimate day's play takes place today in Hsinjuang Stadium, beginning at 3:00pm with Japan versus South Korea. The US will play New Zealand at 5:30pm, while Taiwan A and Taiwan B will hook up for their much-anticipated contest at 7:30pm.
