Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) gave No.17 seed Tatiana Golovin more than a few headaches before finally succumbing in three sets in the women's singles at Wimbledon on Wednesday.
The world No.125 from Taipei took the first set 7-5. Her French opponent leveled the match by winning the second set 6-3 before claiming the decisive third set 8-6.
Although Hsieh made fewer unforced errors than Golovin over the course of the match, the French teenager hit more winners and aces.
Hsieh can be pleased with her efforts despite the defeat. She pushed an opponent ranked more than 100 places higher all the way after having already won three matches in last week's qualifying tournament to reach the first round proper.
