Chang and Chuang move on to semi-finals in Paris

Taiwanese tennis duo Chang Yung-jan (詹詠然) and Chuang Chia-jung (莊佳容) advanced to the semi-finals in the French Open women's doubles after defeating Slovakia's Jarmila Gajdosova and Japan's Akiko Morigami 6-3, 7-5 on Sunday.

After taking the first set easily, Chang and Chuang then fell behind three games to five in the second set before going on to win four straight games to put them two wins away from the championship match.

They will next face Australian Alicia Molik and Italian Mara Santangelo in the quarter-finals.

In the junior women's singles, Chang Kai-chen (張凱貞) came back after dropping the first set to outlast France's Amandine Hesse 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round on Sunday.

However, Chang lost to Slovenia's Polona Hercog 7-6, 6-3 yesterday in the second round.

Taiwan's entrant in the junior men's singles, Peng Hsien-yin (彭賢尹), lost in the first round to Vladimir Ignatic 4-6, 3-6.
