Kuo on comeback trail

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Kuo Hong-chih (郭泓志) said he felt no pain in his strained pitching shoulder on Wednesday after his second rehab start for minor league Triple-A Las Vegas.

The left-hander struck out seven batters in 2 1-3 innings against Sacramento, giving up a pair of singles. He also hit a batter, but used a fastball clocked at 94 mph (151 kph) and a sharp slider in striking out all seven batters he retired.

"I was just trying to get outs today," Kuo said. "I was lucky to get that many strikeouts. I feel healthy and was glad I could throw my slider for strikes."

Kuo threw 51 pitches, 31 for strikes. He threw 30 pitches over two innings on April 29, striking out three and allowing one hit.

He said he'll pitch five innings for Las Vegas next week.

Kuo went 1-1 with a 3.07 earned run average in five starts for the Dodgers last September, and started Game 2 of their divisional series against the New York Mets. He gave up two runs in 4 1-3 innings.
