Trevor Linden's power-play goal during the third period lifted the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-1 Game 7 win and ended the Dallas Stars' attempt to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NHL playoffs series on Monday.
Linden, a former Canucks captain playing in his ninth career Game 7 for Vancouver, just managed to tip Mattias Ohlund's quick point shot through the legs of Stars goalie Marty Turco.
The puck barely trickled over the goal line inside the far post for the game winner.

Bryan Smolinski and Taylor Pyatt added empty-net goals, Henrik Sedin had a goal and an assist, and Roberto Luongo made 19 saves for the Canucks.
Vancouver will start the second round in Anaheim today.
Turco finished with 28 saves and Mike Modano sent a shot off the post and crossbar with four minutes left.
The Stars, who were forced to play Game 7 without injured top defenseman Sergei Zubov, exited the NHL playoffs in the first round for the third straight season.
Joel Lundqvist scored late in the first period for Dallas before Sedin finally put an end to Turco's shutout streak on the power play with 4:48 remaining in the second period.
After shutting out the Canucks in Games 5 and 6, Turco started strong in Game 7.
He made four fantastic saves to kill off a 5-on-3 Canucks power play early in the second before Sedin finally beat him on another power play with 4:48 left in the period.
Sedin's quick shot ended Turco's career-best shutout streak at 165:45.
Revelations of positive doping tests for nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers that went unpunished sparked an intense flurry of accusations and legal threats between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the head of the US drug-fighting organization, who has long been one of WADA’s fiercest critics. WADA on Saturday said it was turning to legal counsel to address a statement released by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart, who said WADA and anti-doping authorities in China swept positive tests “under the carpet by failing to fairly and evenly follow the global rules that apply to everyone else in the world.” The

He first topped Laotian Soukphaxay Sithisane in the round of 16 with two seoi nage (over-the-shoulder throws), then ousted Indian Vijay Kumar Yadav in the quarter-finals with his signature ude hishigi sankaku gatame (triangular armlock). Taiwanese gymnast Lee Chih-kai failed to secure an Olympic berth in the pommel horse following a second-place finish at the last qualifier in Doha on Friday, a performance that Lee and his coach called “unconvincing.” The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist finished runner-up in the final after scoring 6.6 for degree of difficulty and 8.800 for execution for a combined score of 15.400. That was just 0.100 short of Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud, who had qualified for the event in Paris before the Apparatus World Cup series in Qatar’s capital.
