Welcome to the weird world of Moritz Volz, a 24-year-old German footballer who is forgotten in his homeland but adored by fans and media in England.

Volz has achieved cult status at Fulham and insists that he isn't a typical German -- to be seen prominently on his Web site www.volzy.com.

"Moritz Volz is on a stereotype-subverting mission. He is a German with a sense of humor," observed the Guardian newspaper.

The Web site boasts a German phrasebook including essentials like "Where can I get my mullet highlighted." It points out that Germans excel in cherry stone spitting, separating rubbish and tax rules.

"I don't think you could say that for every German, but it wouldn't be on my Web site if it didn't fit the bill for a lot of them. We were in Germany pre-season and there were some shocking hairdos. It doesn't make me proud," he told the Guardian.

The Web site also highlights his obsessive love for Hasselhoff, the Knight Rider and Baywatch star who is very popular in Germany and whom he simply names "The Hoff."

"Being German, I love David Hasselhoff. It's actually the law back in the Motherland. For me the Hoff is almost like some kind of higher spirit. Hoff-ness is everywhere. The Hoff is a big inspiration -- in times of trouble I often ask myself "how would the Hoff deal with this situation?" he said.

There must be something to it as Volz scored his first Premier League goal last October after writing "The Hoff" on his boots.
