US cyclist Levi Leipheimer of Discovery Channel crashed on the streets of his hometown but still managed to keep the yellow jersey after Monday's first stage of the Tour of California.
Leipheimer, who won Sunday's prologue in San Francisco, tumbled with about 20 other riders on the penultimate circuit through the Santa Rosa streets.
But race officials decided the 156.4km stage that began in Sausalito was neutralized once the peloton entered Santa Rosa, so time gaps could not be altered on the finishing circuits.
As a result, Leipheimer kept the overall lead at four hours, 22 minutes and eight seconds with compatriot Jason Donald of Slipstream one second back.
