The cats took a 51-47 lead at the half following a dead even first quarter on the strength of a 12-2 run with less than two minutes to play in the second quarter, only to see the bankers counter with an 11-3 run of their own in the third to claim a 72-67 advantage heading into the final quarter.
After a gang-buster nine-point outing by Tien in the fourth quarter that helped the Tigers reclaim a six-point lead with approximately five minutes remaining in the game, Bank of Taiwan skipper Wei Chen-ming called what turned out to be a game-turning timeout to regroup his troops.
And it worked wonders, because the bankers went on an 11-2 run following the timeout and took a 92-89 lead with the clock winding down before holding on for the win.
Hunters 91, Antelopes 81
The Videoland Hunters had little trouble taming the ETTV Antelopes with an inside attack that proved too much for the Antelopes to handle in a 91-81 decision on Sunday afternoon.
Big men Lin Hsin-hua and Lai Guo-hong scored 14 and 12 points on offense and took turns in containing the Antelopes' newly acquired Delvin Thomas defensively by holding the US forward to 20 points and 10 rebounds to complement top scorer Jonathan Sanders' 26 in a giant win for the Hunters.
The showdown between the two foreign players never lived up to the hype, as Thomas was forced to leave the game midway through the fourth quarter with a knee injury, while Sanders stole the show by doing it all for his team with 10 boards, three assists and one blocked shot.
