Pakistan and Taiwan traded straight-sets singles victories yesterday on the first day of competition in their Asia Oceania Zone Group I Davis Cup tennis tie.
Pakistani Aisam Qureshi downed Chen Ti 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, while Taiwan's Wang Yeu-tzuoo bested Aqeel Khan 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.
Wang is scheduled to partner Yi Chu-yuan against Qureshi and Khan in today's doubles competition.

Pakistan qualified for the first World Group playoffs in its Davis Cup history after defeating Taiwan 4-1 in their Asia Oceania Group I second round series last year.

Lee Hyung-taik cruised past India's Prakash Amritraj in straight sets as South Korea took a 2-0 lead after the opening day of its Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group I tie.
Lee broke Amritraj in the first game and looked sharp throughout the 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 win.
In the other openings singles match, Chung Hee-seok rallied to beat India's Rohan Bopanna, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
Bopanna controlled early play with his sweeping crosscourt shots but later crumbled.
Chung pulled out three of only a handful of aces to clinch the third set. He broke Rohan's serve in game nine of the final set then watched him fire into the net for match point in game 10.
Former top-ranked doubles players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi of India will pair up today to take on Jun Woong-sun and Kwon Oh-hee.
