Rookie Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and three assists, Olaf Kolzig stopped 37 shots Saturday, and the Washington Capitals ended the New York Rangers' six-game winning streak with a 5-1 win.
Ovechkin had gone six games without a goal before converting a New York mistake into his 16th of the season at 12:11 of the first period. He added assists on Washington's next three goals, helping the Capitals snap a five-game skid.
Kolzig lost a bid for his 34th career shutout when Petr Prucha scored a power-play goal with 1:43 left.
Dainius Zubrus, Steve Eminger, Jeff Halpern and Matt Pettinger also scored for the Capitals.
Sharks 5, Maple Leafs 4
At Toronto, Joe Thornton had two assists for the second straight night with his new team, helping San Jose rally to beat Toronto.
Alyn McCauley scored twice for the Sharks, who ended a 10-game losing streak Friday with a 5-0 win at Buffalo -- Thornton's debut with San Jose after being traded by Boston on Wednesday.
Mark Smith, Scott Hannon, Patrick Marleau had the other goals for the Sharks.
Darcy Tucker, Eric Lindros, Matt Stajan and Jason Allison scored for the Maple Leafs, who have lost two of three.
Toronto captain Mats Sundin assisted on Tucker's goal, giving him 769 points with Toronto -- surpassing Borje Salming for second on the team's career list.
Flames 3, Penguins 2
At Pittsburgh, Daymond Langkow scored twice in less than two minutes early in the third period and Calgary -- helped by a goal that may not have gone into the net -- won in Pittsburgh for the first time in nearly 17 years.
Kristian Huselius, acquired Friday from Florida, set up all three goals.
Pittsburgh has scored only nine goals during a five-game losing streak.
Sidney Crosby ended the longest scoring slump of his short career by netting his 13th goal on a backhander just past the midway point of the second for Pittsburgh.
Crosby hadn't scored in three games since badly bruising his left foot blocking a shot Sunday in Tampa. Mario Lemieux assisted to halt a four-game run without a point that was the longest of his long career. Ryan VandenBussche scored his first goal late in the third.
Panthers 4, Blackhawks 3, OT
At Sunrise, Florida, Olli Jokinen scored a power-play goal at 3:57 of overtime to lift Florida over Chicago.
Nathan Horton scored twice to help the Panthers send Chicago to its fifth straight road loss. Horton has three goals in two games since returning from a 10-game absence due to a sprained knee.
The Blackhawks rallied from a 3-1 deficit with third-period goals by Rene Bourque and Mikael Holmqvist.
Roberto Luongo made 35 saves for the Panthers.
