Six Nations champ Wales ran in seven second-half tries and routed Canada 60-3 on Saturday, completing its season with a record victory margin over the North Americans.

Despite fielding a largely second-string side, the Welsh improved their record to 8-1 against Canada and easily eclipsed their previous biggest win against it, a 38-point victory.

The game, played before a crowd of 12,800 at York University Stadium under a blistering sun, featured an exchanged of punches in the first half and another in the second.

Wales had most of the ball but led only 15-3 at halftime. However, it returned and completed the victory with two tries by Jonathan Thomas, and one each from Ben Broster, Chris Czekaj, Kevin Morgan, Rhys Williams and Alix Popham.

Ceri Sweeney kicked a penalty and converted six of nine tries.

"We're delighted with the tour overall," Welsh coach Mike Ruddock said. "We've achieved all our objectives, which was to win the two games and try some new combinations.

"In the end we scored well over 100 points, we didn't have any tries scored against us and we capped seven new players."

The game was played in high humidity and heat over 30?C, with the water-starved pitch an unappealing brown in several spots.

The victory came after the Welsh routed the United States 77-3 a week ago in similar conditions in Hartford, Connecticut.

Wales played without several regulars, including back-rower Ryan Jones, who was summoned Friday to join 10 of his teammates on the touring British and Irish Lions squad in New Zealand as an injury replacement.
