Hitting nearly 50 percent from beyond the three-point line, the red-hot BCC Mars tamed the Dacin Tigers on Friday night in a lopsided 93-79 victory.
Led by sharp-shooter Lin Chia-huang's (林佳皇) 21-point effort, the Mars grabbed an early double-digit lead and never looked back. Lin contributed five of the Mars' 10 three-pointers and played an exceptional defensive game.
Despite another brilliant game by big man Tien Lei (田壘), who led all scorers with 25, the Tigers were unable to recover from a disastrous start to record their second defeat of the season.
Bank of Taiwan 66, Yulon 74
The Chen Hsin-an (陳信安) road show continued in Saturday's contest between the Yulon Dinos and the Bank of Taiwan, where the former NBA-tryout contender scored 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Dinos remain undefeated at 4-0 as Chen, their fearless leader, gave the Bank of Taiwan a lesson in basketball with a combination of perimeter finesse (9-for-21 from the floor) and inside power (10 defensive boards).
Held scoreless in the first four minutes of the game, Bank of Taiwan recovered to take a brief lead in the early moments of the fourth period.
The rally fell short, however, as the Dinos scored six straight unanswered points and handed Bank of Taiwan its second loss of the season.
Sina 75, Taiwan Beer 70
Crowd-favorite Sina Lions took the court in Game 2 on Saturday against a quick Taiwan Beer squad that had squeezed by Bank of Taiwan by two points the week before.
In search of their first win of the season, the Lions stuck with a game plan that emphasized a ball-control offense that would avoid a shootout against Taiwan Beer.
The strategy to pound the ball inside in the Lions' half led to early foul troubles for Taiwan Beer's front three and consequently sent the Lions to the foul line a season-high 37 times.
Dacin 65, Jeoutai 61
The highly anticipated matchup between Dacin Tigers' Tien Lei and Jeoutai Elephants' rookie big man Wu Tai-hao (吳岱豪) on Sunday did not live up to its billing, as Tien outplayed Wu in every respect.
Wu managed to score only six points in 35 minutes of play, while Tien was his usual self in another double-double night (19 points and 17 rebounds).
Stepping up for the Elephants instead was forward/center Shang Wei-fan (尚韋凡), who led all scorers with 25 points in his best outing of the season.
The Tigers kept many scoring opportunities alive, with a total of 16 offensive boards as part of an overwhelming 18-rebound advantage.
BCC 88, Bank of Taiwan 74
All five starters for the BCC Mars scored in double-figures in an impressive victory over the Bank of Taiwan on Sunday.
Veteran center Lee Chi-yi (李啟億) of the Mars led a balanced attack that was firing on all cylinders against a Bank of Taiwan club that lost a heart-breaker against the Dinos on Saturday night.
Playing its second game in as many days, Bank of Taiwan might have lost its concentration, turning the ball over 21 times to overshadow a 14-rebound edge (45 to 31) that would otherwise have made the game much closer.
The unbeaten Yulon Dinos remain top of the league, followed one game behind by the BCC Mars. Taiwan Beer and Dacin Tigers have both won two and lost two.
