Matsui leads Yankees to victory

Derek Jeter homered in each of the first two innings and Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi also hit home runs, leading Roger Clemens and New York 6-2 over Texas on Tuesday.

Jeter hit a leadoff homer in the first and a two-run shot in the second off Colby Lewis (4-7). It was his first multihomer game of the season and fourth of his career.

Matsui of Japan added a two-run homer in the first and Giambi hit his AL-leading 32nd home run in the fifth.

Tigers 7, Athletics 2

Rookie Rich Harden won again, pitching six strong innings as the Oakland Athletics beat the Detroit Tigers.

Harden (3-0) gave up two runs and five hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked two to give the As their ninth win in 12 games.

Red Sox 10, Angels 9

In Boston, Trot Nixon hit a tiebreaking single off relief ace Brendan Donnelly in the seventh inning as Boston beat Anaheim despite Jeff Suppan's struggles in his return to the Red Sox.

In Cleveland, Jamie Moyer became the American League's third 15-game winner, leading Seattle over Cleveland.

Japanese slugger Ichiro Suzuki had three hits for the AL West-leading Mariners, who have won six of seven.

In Baltimore, Jason Johnson and four relievers combined on a six-hitter, and Luis Matos drove in two runs as Baltimore defeated Minnesota.

Devil Rays 5, Blue Jays 4, 10 innings

In St. Petersburg, Florida, Travis Lee homered and singled in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning, giving Tampa Bay a comeback victory over Toronto.

In Chicago, Frank Thomas hit a two-run homer and Esteban Loaiza went six solid innings in Chicago's win over Kansas City.

Brad Penny allowed four hits in seven sharp innings as the Florida Marlins beat Woody Williams and the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 on Tuesday.
