A Japanese astronaut has thrown a boomerang in space. He confirmed that it flies back, much like it acts on Earth. It's an experiment that had never been performed before.
Astronaut Takao Doi "threw a boomerang and saw it come back" during his free time on March 18 at the International Space Station. He threw the boomerang after a request from compatriot Yasuhiro Togai, who is a world boomerang champion.
"I was very surprised and moved to see that it flew the same way it does on Earth," Doi told his wife in a chat from space.

The Japanese space agency said a videotape of the experiment would likely be released later.
Doi traveled on the US shuttle Endeavour. He blasted off on March 11. Doi successfully delivered the first piece of a Japanese laboratory to the International Space Station.
Togai said that he's very happy with the results. He thinks the news will make more people interested in boomerangs.

Computex, Asia’s biggest electronics conference, kicked off Monday in Taipei, and as in years past drew industry chieftains from Nvidia Corp.’s Jensen Huang and Qualcomm Inc.’s Cristiano Amon to Young Liu of Foxconn, which makes the bulk of the world’s iPhones and Nvidia servers. But while last year’s event was a celebration of the post-ChatGPT AI boom, executives this time are likely grappling with the uncertainty of the Trump administration’s effort to reshape the global trade order — disrupting a decades-old model for tech manufacturing. This year’s exhibition will of course feature the hardware required to bring artificial intelligence to life.
