Financier Bernard Madoff has pleaded guilty to all 11 charges in one of the largest swindles in Wall Street history. He faces as many as 150 years in prison.
The gray-haired 70-year-old Madoff stated “guilty” when asked by a federal judge to enter a plea.
Madoff’s Ponzi scheme took in as much as US$65 billion over two decades before the market meltdown.
His investors included hedge funds, banks, Jewish charities, the wealthy and small individual investors in North and South America and Europe.
