This Is Modern by the Universal Ballet from South Korea is a compilation of four modern ballet works including Czech choreographer Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort and Minus 7 by Israeli dancer and choreographer Ohad Naharin.

For its newest production, Dancing Queen (東區卡門), All Musical Theatre Company (音樂時代劇場) turned to Georges Bizet’s Carmen for inspiration and created a musical about a Taipei woman’s love life.

For The Cacophony of Life (樂鬧人生), Sun Son Theatre (身聲劇場) adds black humor to its signature fusion of modern theater, dance, chant, masks and world music to recount a traveler’s life story.

World-renowned DV8 Physical Theatre presents Can We Talk About This?, a dance-theater production that uses real-life interviews and archive footage to tackle the subjects of censorship, freedom and multiculturalism.

Almost half a century after it was written by Yao Yi-wei (姚一葦), doyen of modern Chinese theater, Sun Fei-hu, the Snatcher of Wedding (孫飛虎搶親) is being staged for the first time. Inspired by the Chinese classic Romance of the Western Chamber (西廂記), the play attempts to transcend the boundary between Chinese and Western theater.

NSO Chamber Music — The Golden Horn (NSO精選名家室內樂 — 黃金號角) presents French horn soloist Radek Baborak performing together with the National Symphony Orchestra Soloists (獨奏家群, NSO). The program includes Mozart’s Horn Quintet in E-flat Major, KV. 407, Bohuslav Martinu’s Serenade No. 1, for Horn, Clarinet, Three Violins and Viola, Beethoven’s Sextet for Two Horns and String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 81b and Kerry Turner’s Sonata for Horn and String Quartet. Baborak will perform in a second concert on Sunday together with the National Symphony Orchestra (國家交響樂團), to be conducted by Massimo Zanetti. The program includes Joseph-Maurice Ravel’s Ma Mere l’Oye and Rapsodie Espagnole, Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 2 in E-flat Major and Ottorino Respighi’s Feste Romane.
