Pickled memories on display

Lo Sen-hao asks viewers to consider preserved foods in a humorous attempt to compile a book, which, when published, will explore the social significance of pickled vegetables

By Gavin Phipps  /  STAFF REPORTER

To compile his book, Lo requires at least 80 stories, and to date he has received just over 20. And while many of these have been reminiscences penned by local people recalling the days when their grandmother's pickled vegetables were the centerpiece of many a meal, he has also received one from a British expat who has penned humorous recollections of that ever-so-English of preserved vegetables, the pickled onion.

Along with seeing their prose in print, each individual who writes to Lo will receive one of his pickling pots as payment for their work. Those interested in penning their pickle memoirs so that Lo may use them in his upcoming publication should send their writings to progr2@dk-taipei.org.tw.
