Lush is back, this time with a "Fish 'n' Chicks" party in an Ilan County warehouse that includes "shrimpmaids" -- walking mermaids -- live bands and a collective of DJs.

The last Lush production was on Ilan Beach in August and attracted 25 DJs and over 1,000 people. This time round the party will be held in a fish and shrimp farm, with access to a large artificial lake for romantic walks under the moon to a tribal house soundtrack.

The party starts at 6pm with performances by 88 Guava Seeds (八十八顆芭樂仔), Signal (信號), The Daymakers and The Faded Youth. They'll entertain until midnight, after which four DJs (Audiomatik, Francis, Alicia Hush and 26) and a VJ will take over to entertain until the early hours.

In addition there will be a Chinese and Western barbecue, fire spinners and arcade games.

One of three promoters for the party, Francis Pepin said there would also be special guest appearances from some mermaid relatives. "You've got to see our shrimpmaids. They'll be walking around offering shots and drinks. We cast a spell on them for the evening. Shrimps have got legs, they can walk."

Pepin moved down to Ilan a year ago. "We realized there was absolutely no scene in Ilan or on the east coast at all. So, we started small parties at a bar and then started inviting Taipei DJs. The parties just got bigger and we needed bigger venues."

The event is at the Yu-Lo Fish and Shrimp Farm, Road 196, Wujie, Ilan County (200m west of the Number 2 Coastal Highway). (郁樂釣蝦場宜蘭縣五結鄉濱海公路旁冬山河畔). Call (03) 950 4100 or check out the Web site at www.djmart.info/udmc/fishnchicks.htm, The price is NT$200 in advance, NT$250 on the door.

Staying down south, but going deeper, Revevolution is holding a Chifunk party tonight in Kaohsiung, after which everyone will be heading toward Kenting for some more fun in the sun on the beach.

The party, called "Flower Power," will be held at what is said to be the hottest lounge-club in the south, BOBO. Chifunk's DJs will be teaming up with Satan, Rob Solo, DJ Timothy (hot, new, jazzy house) and VJ Kokusho. It costs NT$400. Show up in flower-power clothes and get two drink tickets. Cactus Cafe in Kenting is co-sponsoring the event and if you show them a ticket from the party Friday you can get a discount on room, food and drink all weekend.

Next weekend is the biggest party of the year in Taichung, at Moon Island and Penthouse. There will be 12 DJs playing for 12 hours. More information will come next week, or go to the Web site at revevolution.com.

In Taipei tonight, pretty boy Nic Fanciulli will be laying down the wax at Ministry of Sound. The 24-year-old is an in-demand mixer after working on 4Tune500's Dancing In The Dark, Tears for Fears' Shout and others. It's going to be an all-white night, so you know what color to dress in. Free gifts will be disbursed at happy hour.
