Japanese scientist blames China for dying trees

While some doubt the theory, Yakushima Island’s primeval forests are being depleted as winds carry ever more industrial pollution from China

Residents who believe the pollution is caused by China described feeling helpless, saying they doubt there is action their government could take even if it becomes convinced Nagafuchi is right.

“There is not much we can do about this, except ask the Chinese to spend more money on environmental cleanup,” Tetsuka said. “I’m afraid it will only get worse and worse.”
