Letters: Democracy, Taiwan style
Friday, Sep 22, 2006, Page 8
Perhaps the leaders of the opposition parties in Taiwan should learn about the true meaning of democracy.
The president and the government can only be changed by ballot and election, not by bullet and demonstration. Any elected president can only be fired by the people through proper channels and by using the law, not by demonstrations. Anyone, including the president, is presumed innocent until he or she is found guilty of corruption by the court.
Is this democracy, Taiwanese style?
