FIH launches its eighth Just Sleep hotel in Sanchong

By Crystal Hsu  /  Staff reporter

Formosa International Hotels Group (FIH, 晶華酒店集團) is to launch its eighth property under the Just Sleep (捷絲旅) brand in New Taipei City’s Sanchong District (三重) as the hotel chain seeks to boost business in the Greater Taipei area.

The facility of 95 guest rooms is a joint venture with New Taipei City-based Pin Yang Development Corp (賓陽建設).

The companies spent three years rebuilding an old wood factory into commercial space for NT$600 million (US$19.28 million).

“Pin Yang’s attempt to bring prosperity to Sanchong prompted it to work with Just Sleep to take advantage of its know-how and brand value,” FIH chairman Steve Pan (潘思亮) said.

The area has benefited from infrastructure improvement works, particularly the Taipei Mass Rapid Transit system’s Luzhou Line.

The new hotel has special offers of NT$2,199 per night during the soft opening period that starts today.

All Just Sleep properties blend their interior design with the local community’s historical development, so the latest facility assigns great importance to the loft element in line with Sanchong’s past as an industrial quarter, Just Sleep Taiwan general manager Cindy Chen (陳惠芳) said.

Just Sleep also has facilities in Taipei’s Ximending (西門町) area, Yilan County’s Jiaosi Township (礁溪) and elsewhere in Taiwan, while FIH has inked a pact with Ten Drum Rende Creative Park (十鼓仁糖文創園區) to open another Just Sleep outlet inside the Tainan complex in 2021.

The upcoming property is to feature 129 guest rooms as FIH deepens its presence in the south.

FIH posted NT$304 million in net income for the first quarter, a 40.86 percent increase year-on-year, as all its subsidiaries reported better profits, it said on Monday.

The group also owns the Silks Place (晶英) brand, Regent Taipei and some independent restaurants.

The profit pickup reflected the sale last year of Regent properties in overseas markets, as the move helped cut losses at unprofitable venues and raised account receivables, FIH said.
