HTC hires marketing guru
HTC Corp (宏達電) yesterday confirmed that it has hired a marketing executive who worked for Samsung Electronics Co to advise HTC chairwoman Cher Wang (王雪紅). Paul Golden was chief marketing officer at Samsung’s US mobile phone business, helping to create and launch the company’s highly successful Galaxy brand before leaving in 2012. HTC confirmed the report by Bloomberg News without providing any details.
Google unveils new platform
Google Inc rolled out its cloud computing-based platform for enterprises in Taiwan on Tuesday to promote its cloud business services. The Google Cloud Platform enables developers to build, test and deploy applications on Google’s infrastructure, including computing, storage and application services designed for Web-based, mobile and back-end solutions, the company said. Google charges a basic fee for the business service based on the number of e-mail accounts opened.
Foreign listings expected
The Taiwan Stock Exchange said yesterday that it expects five foreign-registered companies to launch primary listings on the main board in the first half of this year. Last year, 13 foreign companies launched primary listings on the main board. Since May 2010, a total of 37 foreign firms have listed their shares on the exchange.
