HTC Corp (宏達電) will begin shipments of its “HTC One mini” smartphone next month in select markets and the product will be available globally starting September, the company said yesterday.
HTC did not disclose where it plans to launch the product first.
After posting on its official Twitter and Facebook pages a note that it would announce a “little” bit of news earlier yesterday, HTC said in a later statement that it plans to sell the mini version of its One device later this year.
The One mini will feature a 4.3-inch display and runs on a dual-core 1.4 GHz processor, HTC said.
While the smartphone maker earlier said the 4.3-inch device would be available in black and silver, it did not specify the price, nor did it confirm whether Taiwan would be among the countries receiving the first batch of shipments.
The 16GB model of the new HTC One retails from NT$19,900 (US$665) upward in Taiwan.
The company’s product launch comes after Samsung Electronics Co launched its Galaxy S4 mini earlier this month and before Apple Inc is expected to unveil its new iPhone later this year.
