Oil spikes as Syria-Turkey crisis continues

On the London Platinum and Palladium Market, platinum decreased to US$1,678 an ounce from US$1,711.

COCOA: Prices fell to the lowest points since July on receding supply worries in top global producer Ivory Coast.

By Friday on LIFFE, London’s futures exchange, cocoa for delivery in December slid to £1,524 a tonne from £1,533 a week earlier.

On New York’s NYBOT-ICE exchange, cocoa for December sank to US$2,360 a tonne from US$2,406.

SUGAR: Sugar futures also hit reverse gear.

By Friday on NYBOT-ICE, the price of unrefined sugar for March stood at US$0.2047 a pound compared with US$0.2137.

On LIFFE, the price of a tonne of white sugar for delivery in December fell to US$566 from US$595.70 a week earlier.
