Taiwan’s largest LCD panel maker, Chimei Innolux Corp (奇美電子), yesterday reported its best monthly revenues in about one-and-a-half years as shipments of PC and TV flat panels increased, the company said.
Chimei Innolux’s sales last month grew 8 percent month-on-month to NT$46.9 billion from NT$43.4 billion in November, according to a company statement. Shipments of PC and TV panels rose 7 percent to 13 million units last month, compared with 12.14 million units in November.
The results came after a report from local market researcher TrendForce Corp (集邦科技) forecast last month that China’s major TV brands would buy 11.6 percent more LCD TV panels, or 47 million units, compared with a record purchase of 42.19 million units in November. Chimei Innolux is the biggest TV panel supplier to Chinese TV vendors, with a 30 percent market share, TrendForce said.
Chimei Innolux’s fourth-quarter sales reached NT$130.41 billion, up 4.6 percent from the third quarter.Shipments of PC and TV flat panels were down 4.3 percent to 35.4 million units, from 37 million units.
Meanwhile, the nation’s No. 2 LCD panel maker, AU Optronics Corp (友達光電), yesterday said revenues fell 9.4 percent month-on-month to NT$27.72 billion last month. Fourth-quarter sales were NT$89.5 billion, down 9.5 percent from the previous quarter.
