Senao International Co Ltd (神腦國際), an equipment manufacturing company, said on Saturday that it would continue to expand and has plans to recruit up to 800 new personnel this year for its digital convergence stores.
Senao chairman Paul Lin (林保雍) said that digital convergence has reached the stage were it has become a mainstream trend.
Digital convergence refers to the convergence of four related industries — information technologies, telecommunications, consumer electronics and entertainment — into a single conglomerate.
Senao opened its first digital convergence store in August last year in the business district near Taipei Railway Station and it has since opened others in Greater Taichung and Greater Kaohsiung, Lin said.
“We will open 66 new digital convergence stores in Taiwan this year,” he said.
Estimating an average of 12 staff members per store, the firm would need to hire about 800 people, Lin said.
The company also has 22 stores in China and hopes to open an additional 200 there this year, once suitable locations are found, he said.
Senao reported record revenues of NT$3.01 billion (US$100 million) last month, up 54.4 percent year-on-year.
The company’s revenues for the whole of last year were NT$27.4 billion, an increase of 40.6 percent from 2010 and a new high for the firm.
