Agency says local companies suffering shortage of workers

Staff writer, with CNA

More than 60 percent of local companies are feeling the pressure of a shortage of workers, for the first time in five years, the nation’s largest online recruitment agency said yesterday.

“Amid growing demand from Chinese tourists and local residents, domestic service-related sectors, including hotels, restaurants, transport and tourism, are experiencing the most obvious impact of the worker shortage,” said Max Fang (方光瑋), public relations manager of the 104 Job Bank.

About 61.5 percent of the companies surveyed by the agency said they have been facing worker shortages since the Lunar New Year holiday this month.
